footsteps into the new decade

perception sans eyes
fuels wild new-world visions
wet lawns are adorned
in harlequin dress
patchworks of greens
yellows and browns
amuse and invite
an upturning of lips

allowing observance
kindles rich unseen prospects
illumination’s streaks seek
passageways through
the cloud-knitted skies
surrender to light
and portend new beginnings
undreamt before

meditation ignites
subtle quick movements
though in still-filtered light
shifts may be concealed
from out of the rifts
like smoke in ascension
outlines of new gifts
begin to come clear

momentum transmutes
ideation to action
a harmonious chorus
gives voice to the charge
entreats that we open more than one doorway
open deeper receptors
along with the eyes

from ash arises
the new from the old
now’s time to be grateful
appreciate residue
take strength from the burning,
joy from the friendships
and clear out the way
for the vision to seed

when baubles and bangles
stop catching attention
when the latest slick gadget
no longer makes the heart race
when prancing in a new outfit
doesn’t serve up delight
when being seen on the scene
puts no shine on the face

inside can shine outward
in pure joy of listening
a torrent of caring
can fill up a lost soul
a river of words
can fill a basin of doubts
and a smile released freely
swells a shard to a whole
and that touch to a shoulder
can restore lost control

these are the gifts
that give life her lush texture
soft words and small deeds
that give a day wing
these are the essence
of unfettered true giving
and expression of spirit
acting as angels we bring
